In the 7th of March, FH Portugal attended a cardiovascular roundtable meeting, at which a number of patient advocates representing other organizations with an interest in Familial Hypercholesterolemia (FH) and high-risk cardiovascular disease came together to share ideas and insights, and identify potential areas of mutual interest and opportunities for future collaboration. The meeting, which was supported by Amgen (Europe) GmbH, was also attended by Fundation FH (Spain), Alliance du Coeur (France), Patientföreningen FH (Sweden), FH Foundation (USA) and Cardiovascular Centre Nymphenburg (Germany). Key themes discussed included the need for improvement in FH management and adequate acknowledgment of the disease, the use of registries and screening programs for earlier identification and diagnosis, and the need for greater partnership between physicians & GPs, insurance companies, industry, professional organizations, governments and players.
After FH Patients Organizations meeting, to share ideas on FH and high-risk cardiovascular disease, there was a definite desire to continue this useful collaboration in the future, so further updates are likely to follow.
